Misophonia: enraged by everyday sounds

Very soon, I'll be joining forces with Scitable, a network developed by Nature Publishing Group.

(Don't worry—you won't miss any of my writing if you follow Gaines, on Brains!)

In preparation, I've got a piece on the Scitable Student Voices blog today about misophonia, or hatred of certain sounds.

Check it out here!

  1. Hello,
WHEW, after searching and searching I've finally found someone that has the letters Ph.D somewhere on their site :)
we have just found out that my 15 year old daughter has misophonia. Poor thing can't eat with us, it's hard for her to get through her lunch period because of the chewing, crunching, slurping and so on. She constantly has her earphones in with music playing to block it out which shuts her out of time with her family.
My question is, could hypnotherapy possibly help? I feel horrible that I can't make this stop so, I'm just trying to find anything that will help her.
Thank you so much in advance!
